A club that came to be through many conversations, the desire to share Latino and Hispanic culture and create a community of support for students in healthcare majors, Latinos in Scrubs was officially established this fall.

Michelle Kimzey is the new holder of the Abell-Hanger Professorship in Gerontological Nursing. The Abell-Hanger Professorship was established in 1988 by the Abell-Hanger Foundation. Kimzey's teaching and research center on improving care for people living with dementia while preparing the next generation of health care professionals to provide compassionate, evidence-based support.

Beth Rogers, assistant professor of nursing, was recently announced as a Fellow in the National League for Nursing, recognizing her leadership and creativity in her field.

Griselle Batista, assistant professor of nursing in Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences, has been recognized as a Fellow in the Transcultural Nursing Society (FTNSS), a high honor that recognizes scholars for their leadership in culturally centered healthcare.

Recent Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Nursing graduate Katie Jannusch ’26 placed third in the 2026 Dr. Hope Babette Tang Humanism in Healthcare Essay Contest.

Another successful Nurse Camp, hosted by TCU Nursing, brought high school students from across Texas and the United States to campus to experience one week of clinical practice, educational activities and fun for aspiring nursing students.

Of the nearly 200 incoming nursing students in the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences this fall, one of them has been dreaming of coming to Texas Christian University since she was little. And that dream is now becoming a reality.
